Congratulations to Divya Yerramilli, recipient of the Mhari Saito Scholarship for 2013.
Divya is currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of Pennsylvania, and is also earning her Masters in Bioethics. Divya first discovered her interest in oncology and medicine through volunteering with the Oncology Recreational Therapy program at Duke University, where she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and a Certificate in Ethics. While in medical school, Divya developed her research interests through the Radiation Oncology department to investigate the role of adjuvant chemotherapy after trimodality therapy in patients with esophageal cancer. She will be attending the GI ASCO Symposium in San Francisco with the Mhari Saito Scholarship to present this research. Divya plans to pursue a residency in Radiation Oncology.
