As part of No Stomach For Cancer’s mission to empower patients, the organization has added two third-party provider services to its portfolio of programs. The new telehealth partnerships with Fay and Talkspace address two much-needed support demands in a community with unique physical requirements resulting from stomach removal. A majority of patients who contact the organization for support have reported that they have not received nutritional or mental health guidance or consistent follow-up from their care team. Additionally, as patients and their caregivers navigate the challenges and difficult transition to life without a stomach, they experience emotional and physical challenges that sometimes lead to anxiety and depression.
Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is crucial for patients undergoing gastrectomy to enhance surgical outcomes, minimize complications, and ensure optimal nutritional status. Fay, a telehealth nutrition provider, has vetted dietitians for oncology patients undergoing gastrectomy and living well without a stomach. Fay is proud to support these steps and be a partner of the organization.
Mental health experts and oncologists often refer to mental health as the “twin disease.” Whether a patient is experiencing “scanxiety,” depression, or struggling with relationships and daily life, there is a growing unmet need in the stomach cancer community for mental health services. “Facing a cancer diagnosis brings not only physical challenges but immense emotional strain. At Talkspace, we recognize that mental health support is a vital part of the healing journey. Our therapy services offer stomach cancer patients a safe, accessible space to process fear, navigate uncertainty, and build resilience. We’re proud to be a partner in their care, helping them find strength in both body and mind.” Dr. Nikole Benders-Hadi, Chief Medical Officer.

Many insurance plans cover nutrition counseling, but it is often an underutilized benefit. Fay helps you find a highly qualified dietitian so you can get the care you need while saving money. Seeing a nutritionist can cost up to $150 per session without insurance, but when you book through Fay, you’re likely to pay closer to $10. In fact, for most people, sessions are free with insurance.
